If you’re interested in events close to home, the WEGO program has something for almost everyone! Meetings are at 1:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month (except in the summer). WEGO benefits include:

Where Do You Want to Go Today?

Snakes, alligators, turtles, and lizards are featured in indoor and outdoor facilities. Reptiles in the outdoor gardens are in low-walled enclosures so you can observe them as if encountered in the wild. 1374 Hwy. 174, Edisto Island.
Sat.-Sun. Hunley, World’s First Combat Submarine
Until recently, the Hunley was completely encased in an encrusted layer of sand, sediment, and shells that built up slowly over time while lost at sea. Now you can see the original surface of the submarine. Warren Lasch Conservation Center, 1250 Supply St., N. Charleston.
Mon.-Fri. The Kazoo Factory
See a large collection of kazoos and related items. View American history by way of America’s most unique musical invention! Tour the factory and make your own high quality kazoo! 12 John Galt Rd., Beaufort.
Daily Port Royal Cypress Wetlands and Rookery
Discover the sights, sounds, and wonderment of the 0.56 miles of trails around the Rookery and read the informational signage regarding the many varieties of wildlife found at the wetlands. Stop and listen to the sounds of the many species of birds as they soar about the skies. Guided tours are available. 1700 Paris Ave., Port Royal.
Mon.-Fri. Culinary Institute of the South
Meals and drinks are prepared and served by students enrolled in the school’s culinary, baking, and hospitality programs.
