General Travel Club Meeting

Our next General Meeting is Wednesday, Nov 11th, at 2:30 PM (member sign-ins begin at 2 PM) in the Pinckney Hall Ballroom.  Come to hear Dianne Brooks talk about the recent trip to Portugal. Twenty-six Travel Club members embarked on a spectacular journey through Portugal in May, filled with unforgettable sights, flavors, and shared experiences. The adventure began in vibrant Porto, where we explored the lively Bolhão Market, admired the beautiful tilework of São Bento Train Station, and some even visited the “Imperial” McDonald’s. Several members also purchased advance tickets to the world-famous Livraria Lello bookstore, known for its connection to J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter.

 

From Porto, the journey continued through the historic and cultural treasures of Coimbra, Fátima, Tomar, and Évora, each offering its own unique charm and story. The trip concluded in Lisbon, where colorful neighborhoods and sweeping views of the Tagus River provided the perfect finale. Of course, no visit to Portugal would be complete without enjoying the country’s wonderful cuisine and wines. Along the way, the group discovered new places, shared plenty of laughter, and formed friendships that will surely be remembered for years to come.
